SET DESIGN &
SCENIC CARPENTRY

Travis Breitenbach has designed and built several film sets, and innumerable props and costume pieces. He has also worked extensively in conventional construction and historical restoration, going back to 1993.

For the set of Seven Days of Samsara Travis needed to create the interior of a burning house. To accomplish this he designed and constructed a series of movable walls which could facilitate and maintain a controlled burn. He also built a number of props for special effects, such as a coffee cup containing "boiling" coffee.

For the post-apocalyptic film, Edgar's Folly, Travis created a world of urban decay through his art direction and set construction.  Several of the scenes required matching sets of different scales to create an optical illusion for the "giant" landlord character. He also built countless props and costume pieces including a cruel set of braces for one character, and a full-sized "Death" puppet which was operated by two people.

Travis helped create scenery for the musicals "Hieronymus" & "Little Black Boxes", doing carpentry, rigging and counterweights.

Travis created this stop-motion puppet for his short, Toad vs. Toadstool.

Travis worked on this pole-barn blacksmith shop back in 1997. He enjoys blacksmithing and metalwork.

Travis did historic restoration and carpentry on The Altamont Manor, including the installation of this beautiful new mahogany ceiling along the veranda.

More recently, Travis has done work on this castle. As part of this project he has done trim work and cabinetry, wet and dry masonry, drywall, spackling, tile work, and electric wiring.
